Yesterday, as I went to Kajitsu, I found that the restaurant will do Mother's Day Special on May 10. They will add spring bamboo shoots from Kyoto, fresh yuba from famous "Kyoto Yubahan" and more nama-fu. But reservations are required since the number of dishes is limited. $75 per person.

BTW, Japanese spring bamboo shoots are nothing like other bamboo shoots served at cheap restaurants; they have a rather crunchy texture and a fresh flavor of spring.

What great food writing ---! Drool. Japanese vegetarian is such a great idea; the veg pickings are pretty slim (and pitiful) at most Japanese restaurants.

Indeed, there was no 'health food odor' to induce flashbacks of my tortuous vegeterian upbringing. :)

Your review nails it, and I still have that meal fresh in my mind. What a memorable experience! Definitely looking forward to going again, but it's so good I don't want to spoil it by going too often :)
